Nancy was recently asked to participate in an intermission contest at a Knights game. We asked her to talk about that experience, and tell us a little bit about herself.

Tell us about your “Knight to Remember”
Before the game, a Knights employee came up to my fiancée and me, and asked if one of us wanted to try to shoot the puck for $30,000. The ironic thing is that earlier that day, my dad had sent me several pictures from my childhood. He sent pictures of me dressed up in his old hockey gear, as well as a picture I drew at 6 years old, after the 1980 Gold Medal game (which was the game after the “Miracle on Ice”). I don’t normally believe in signs, but the fact that I got picked on the same day my dad had sent me those pictures, and that the 1980 USA Hockey team was being honored, certainly seemed like a sign to me!
I had no expectations of making any shots. I was just so happy to be there and have the experience. I am still in shock that I made 3 out of 5 shots!
Your dad must be a huge hockey fan as well, keeping your hockey keepsakes for 40 years; did you know he still had those items?
My dad played pick-up games in college and when I was very young. We were NY Islander fans when I was growing up. I have seen the pictures of me in his hockey gear over the years. I knew about the picture I drew after the 1980 gold medal game, but I haven’t seen it in a long time.
How did you feel going out on the ice in front of the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team, the Vegas Golden Knights, and all those fans?
It is hard to put into words how amazing it was to be on the ice during the game. I tried to take a moment to take it all in. It seems like a blur now. Thank goodness I had several friends in attendance send me pictures and video.
It’s pretty impressive that for someone who has never shot a puck before, you made 3 out of 5 from center ice. Have you ever considered learning how to play the sport you love so much?
I played soccer when I was younger, but never considered hockey. Maybe I should try!
Tell us about yourself (family, job, etc)…
I live with my fiancée Tex, my sons Ethan (age 15) and Jason (age 11) and our yorkie, Maki. I work as a special education facilitator in the Clark County School District.
How did you become a fan of the Vegas Golden Knights?
My whole family was so excited when we found out Vegas was getting an NHL team. We bought our first pieces of gear the day that the name and logo came out.
Who is your favorite player, and why?
My current favorite player is Reavo. I love his attitude and watching him play. I am also a big fan of Pierre Edouard Bellemare and was very sad when he got traded.
Do you have any game time traditions?
I think I have only missed watching one game over the 3 seasons. We always watch the pre-game too and are big fans of Shane and Dave. Tex and I also have funny inside jokes and sayings that we repeat during the game.
Do you have any hockey superstitions?
I have to be wearing at least one piece of Knights gear during every game. I also have a pair of earrings that I wear for every game.
If you can’t attend a game, where is your favorite place to watch, and why?
We usually watch at home if we cannot attend a game. We have watched at City National as well, and it’s always a good time. We are excited to watch a game at the Player’s Locker but we haven’t been there yet.
Name 3 things outside of hockey that you’re interested in.
Going to the beach, spending time with my family, and being active (running, biking, kickboxing).
What is your favorite part of being a VGK Lady?
Being part of such an amazing community of women and knowing there is a non-judgmental place to ask and answer questions. I am truly amazed at the reaction to my post. I feel very lucky and grateful.
