For a kid who’s in the Lil Knights hockey program at City National Arena, having a Vegas Golden Knights birthday party is a must. Since VGK decorations are hard to find, we asked Rachelle O’Dell to tell us how she made her own decorations to give her son the party he wanted. She explains how she did it, and you can too, in this week’s tutorial:
Table of Contents
Décor
You can find black and gold table decorations (table cloths, plates, napkins, silverware, streamers and balloons) at Walmart. Buy black and gold plastic cups at Party City, as well as gold streamers.
Use a SILHOUETTE CAMEO to make the birthday banner, with gold cardstock purchased from Michael’s. The same cardstock will be used for the party signs, which can be created and printed from your computer.
For cute utensil holders: Paint pint size Mason jars with black acrylic paint and add a layer of gold glitter to the bottom using Mod Podge. Finish it off with a black ribbon tied around the top. Mason jars, paint, glitter, ribbon, Mod Podge, and brushes can be purchased at Walmart.
To make a VGK gift bag- use a Silhouette Cameo to cut the VGK logo out of cardstock and glue it to a gold bag.
Party Favors:
Use paper cups, purchased at Dollar Tree, and vinyl cut from a Silhouette Cameo to make these cute party favors. Inside the cups, put NHL whistles, NHL tattoos, NHL pencil, golden candy coins, and candy. You can find this all at Party City. Next, wrap the cups with cellophane from Dollar Tree and gold ribbon from Party City.
Attire:
Rachelle made her sons’ custom VGK shirts with her Silhouette Cameo. You can create your own design and add custom names to the back!
Food:
Rachelle found the idea for the Hat Trick favors on Pinterest. DIY: Fill a snack size baggie with 3 Oreos, fold the tag in half, and staple on top. Create and print the label from your computer.
For the cake, follow this tutorial to make a VGK stencil (Rachelle used laminator pages). Then, buy an undecorated cake, and black and gold Color Mist food color spray from Walmart. Spray the cake with the black Color Mist and let it dry overnight. Then place the stencil on the cake and spray a light coat of gold on top. Top the cake with small pieces of Vegas Golden Knights memorabilia.
Your Turn!
Rachelle threw such a great party for her son. Her most valuable assets for this party were her creativity and her SILHOUETTE-CAMEO (full starter bundle for the Cameo can be found Here). It also helps that Black and Gold are really “in” right now and party supplies in these colors are ready available at most stores. With all these things in mind, there’s nothing stopping you from making your own Vegas Golden Knights party!
This is amazing!!!! Do you have the VGK file? I want to download the exact one!!! Have you sent this to silhouette. This is amazing!
